Prime Minister Perry G. Christie, Cabinet ministers, senior PLP officials and delegates to the 49th PLP Convention gathered Sunday morning to give thanks to God and petition his guidance as they get set to convene the week-long informative session and conduct the party’s business.
The sessions, which will feature several keynote speakers including Prime Minister Christie, is being held at the Wyndham Nassau Resort Convention centre in New Providence beginning today.
The PLP’s celebration comes on the heels of the Free National Movement’s convention, where former Prime Minister Hubert A. Ingraham was returned by voting delegates as the leader of the official Opposition.
The governing party held several activities over the weekend leading up to the official opening of the convocation, including the Miss PLP Pageant and the prayer breakfast Sunday morning.
Rev. Timothy Stuart, senior pastor of Bethel Baptist Church speaker for the morning praise service, called for the leadership of the Government to make structural changes in their camp and the country.
“There comes a time in the life of a nation when you can’t operate too low,” said Rev. Stuart.
“Your aspirations have to go north, your values have to go north. You can only be great when you build with greatness,” added Rev. Stuart. “you cannot be great and deal with mediocrity.”
He advised the PLP leaders and supporters to set their face like flint and conduct the business of the Bahamian people.
