According to reports the incident occurred after a botched robbery at 1:40pm near the Haitian Public Market in Port-au-Prince.
Ambassador Dr. Eugene Newry was not with his wife, Francoise, at the time.
Dr and Mrs. Newry returned to the Bahamas Sunday following the armed robbery attempt. Mrs. Newry and her Bahamian security aide, Sgt. Michelet Meronard, were slightly wounded and received medical attention in Haiti.
