Two More Rapes Investigated

Police are investigating the third and fourth rapes reported in less than a week, both occurring within 12 hours of each other.

The first was reported by a 24-year-old Canadian woman who said she was raped at a cay near Paradise Island Friday afternoon.

Police reports say that around 5.15pm the woman was with two males on a jet ski.

She reported that hey took her somewhere near a cay off Paradise Island where, she said, one of the men raped her and the other performed another sexual act.

The men then took her back to shore.

“We’re investigating this matter and at present, we have a 17-year-old male from, the St Andrew’s Beach Estates area,” said Marvin Dames, assistant superintendent of police. “He is currently assisting us with out investigations and a second individual is being sought.”

About 12 hours later, a 27-year-old woman was raped at her home on Strachan’s Alley off Kemp Road.

According to police reports around 5.30am Saturday, three men with a piece of cloth hiding their faces entered the woman’s home, accosted her and then forced the woman to have sex with them.

Before leaving, the men tied up the woman’s 23-year-old brother and robbed him of an unknown amount of money.

Police say there was no forced entry into the home, so it is unclear how the men got into the house.

Investigations are ongoing.
