The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism has reported that all international airports, deep water harbors and most hotels are open for business as usual in The Islands Of The Bahamas.
Grand Bahama Island – impacted the most by Hurricane Frances – continues to rebound with all resorts reporting re-opening dates if they are not open already. While some properties suffered from structural damage on Grand Bahama Island, most resorts sustained minimal cosmetic damage. Grand Bahama International Airport and Seaport have resumed operations and are welcoming international visitors.
On Grand Bahama Island, the Best Western Castaways Resort, Island Palms Resort and the Island Seas Resort are fully operational, with Pelican Bay Hotel re-opening on September 27. The Sheraton at Our Lucaya (and the Isle of Capri Casino) will resume operations October 1, with The Westin at Our Lucaya re-opening November 1. The Wyndham Viva Fortuna Beach will re-open December 1. Completing the lineup is The Royal Oasis Golf Resort & Casino, which will is scheduled to open again February 1. Assessments are still pending for Old Bahama Bay Resort. Nassau/Paradise Island is fully operational with major resorts including Atlantis-Paradise Island, Nassau Beach Hotel, British Colonial Hilton, Radisson Cable Beach & Golf Resort and Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino open and accepting reservations. After completing cosmetic repairs, Sandals Royal Bahamian will re-open September 25 and SuperClubs Breezes will re-open September 30.
In the Out Islands of The Bahamas, Harbour Island, Eleuthera, Spanish Wells, Exuma, Bimini, Andros, Abaco and Long Island reported minimal property damage. Most properties, if not traditionally closed for the fall season, continue to accept reservations.
Minimal impact is expected from Jeanne, but the country is watching the storm closely.
