Call For Minister’s Help In Obtaining Union Presidency

Ambitious cab-driver Cheryl Fergusin has asked Social Services Minister Melanie Griffin to help her become president of the Bahams Taxicab Union – by toppling Mrs. Griffin’s husband, Leon.

Mrs. Ferguson, who likens herself to Hillary Clinton and wants to become the Bahamas’ first woman prime minister, makes the extraordinary plea in an open letter saying: “As sisters, let us show the men how it is done”.

Last night, Mrs. Ferguson told The Tribune, “If she is half the woman I think she is, she will talk to him. he knows I will beat him in next year’s election and he is trying everything in his power to block me”.

Mrs. Ferguson, the union’s vice-president, was recently questioned by police along with another union official after certain allegations were lodged against her. But she claims this was part of a ploy to discredit her and thwart her bid for the union presidency.
