All propane gass retailers will be open for business today as an agreement was reached last night after day-long negotiations between Minister of Trade and Industry Leslie Miller and the Propane Gas Retailers Assocation.
Mr. Miller said the agreement is a huge victory for the Bahamian people.
“We reached an agreement whereby they have gotten the increases that are necessary. However, the final selling price of a tank of LPG gas will remain at $65 which was stated a few weeks ago.”
Mr. Miller expressed his disappointment after many propane gas retailers remained closed in spite of his stern warning that their licenses would be suspended if they were not open for business by noon of December 23, 2004.
At the time he accused the association of using the public and the Christmas rush to coerce government into signing a contract for the price rise.
