The driver of a red pick-up truck intentionally side-swiped another vehicle on Bay Street, near Cable Beach, this afternoon and then sped off, illegally leaving the scene of the accident.
The truck had no rear licence plate. The driver intentionally veered into another car, before speeding off, heading west down Bay Street. The red truck was last seen just west of Sandyport driving at high speed and zig-zagging through traffic to avoid pursuit.
It appeared that there were three people in the front seat of the truck.

A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the hit and run driver.
Hit-and-run accidents have risen by nearly 50 per cent in the Bahamas this year, n what Traffic Superintendent Burkie Wright has called an “upward spiral” of incidents resulting from reckless driving.
Mr. Wright said that the number of hit-and-run accidents investigated by the police went up from 190 in 2003 to 284 in 2004.
According to Supt. Wright the total number of accidents in New Providence went up from 1,288 in 2002 to 2,180 in 2003.
In 2003 there were 441 accidents resulting in injury and 35 traffic fatalities. Both these figures haverisen in 2004 to a total of 706 accidents resulting in injury and 46 in death.
