Hundreds of people were stranded or delayed at the Nassau International Airport Christmas Day. But they weren’t the only ones! Thirty thousand travelers around the United States were also stuck. The problem? Severe weather in the midwest grounded flights.
Kevin Hayes and his 17 family members were supposed to be on a cruise to the Bahamas. Their flight was cancelled, and now they’re going to miss the boat. A week-long trip is left in limbo. “We don’t know. We’re trying to get flights to pick up the cruise somewhere down the line, but so far haven’t been able to find anything so we’re stranded here…” says Hayes.
One of the problems, some US airlines cancelled flights in and out of specific airports, stranding or delaying hundreds of people on Christmas day. Adding to the travel troubles, Comair cancelled some flights because the weather caused a computer system that assigns flight crews to crash.
Comair expects to be flying again by Monday.
