The Christmas holiday weekend left police investigating the discovery of a man found with his wrist and ankles bound and his mouth gagged in the back-trunk of a car in the Augusta St. area. The discovery occurred on Christmas Eve.

The police are also investigating a number of armed robberies, stabbings, and two traffic fatalities that occurred over the weekend.

Chief Supt. Hulan Hanna said Monday in his crime briefing that sometime after 8.15 a.m. on Friday past police, received information that an aqua Cavalier vehicle, registration 88452, was parked just in front of a building under construction in the Augusta St. area off Poinciana Drive. Reports say flies were lingering around the back-trunk area.

“We responded and we discovered the body of a male in the back trunk,” Mr Hanna said. “He was clad in a tan and blue Jean trousers, a stripped blue and green pullover shirt. Both his legs and wrists were bound. The mouth was gagged and his head had trauma with blood. We do not know how the injuries were inflicted.”

A 64-year-old local resident struck Mr Bodie with his vehicle. The matter is being investigated by officers from the New Providence Traffic Division.

The determined young men threw a stone through the showcase window and entered the business establishment. One of them produced a handgun and demanded cash. The occupants handed over a handbag, which contained cash and other personal items.

Meantime, Ian Thompson, the husband of Mrs Thompson attempted to flee and he was shot in the left shoulder. Mr Thompson’s condition was listed as serious at the time, Hanna said. The men made their escape in a white Honda vehicle.
