Alleged sex beast, MP Bradley Roberts hand-delivered a letter to the Nassau Guardian and other media insisting that even reporting the rape allegations made against him could result in a defamation of character suit. What character? Most Bahamians think the man is, and always has been, a belligerent jerk.
As expected, the overly libel-conscious Tribune appears to have been silenced on the matter, while the Guardian ran a related headline to show they wouldn’t be intimidated. The largest online media in the Bahamas, BahamasB2B.com was merely amused by Mr. Roberts threat.
It looks like it is pretty much over for the big-mouthed Member of Parliament who once labeled the editor of the Bahamas’ most respected newspaper as a “terrorist”. (Talk about defamation of character.)
Well, whose the terrorist now, Bradley?
Matter of fact, it looks as if it is pretty much over for the PLP as well. Bahamians are fed up to here (arms way over head) with the antics of a bunch of incompetent gansgters ruining the reputation and economy of our beloved Bahamas.
Not even Perry Christie and his corrupt cabinet can protect Mr. Roberts, like they have done for the bumbling Neville Wisdom, the con-artist Sydney Stubbs and the rascal Leslie Miller.
Even the incompetent Attorney General Alfred Sears, who is often said to be in the pocket of alleged gangster Franklynn Wilson, may not be able to wiggle “Big Bad Brad” out of the trouble he finds himself in.
The police investigators have forwarded the rape case file to the Attorney General’s Office where lawyers will review the case and make their own advisement before turning the file over to AG Sears.
Of course, all hell will break loose around here and the Bahamas’ international reputation will erode further if the AG doesn’t act within the confines of the laws of The Bahamas.
Mr. Roberts, who has received unusually special treatment thus far may be reaching the end of his privileged status. International observers and the US State Department are carefully watching this case as a barometer of the level of corruption that exists in the Bahamian government. Already disappointed with the results of the phony investigation into the Inagua incident and the lack of punishment for those crooked Defence Force officers who were involved in the drug heist, the President of the United States himself is said to be “watching” the Roberts dilemma.
