Coming Soon: Gangsters of The Bahamas

The man behind a big anti-Bahamas Internet campaign wants to present Prime Minister Perry Christie with a personal copy of his latest and greatest “blockbuster” website.

He is keen to hand over a diskette called Gangsters of The Bahamas which, he claims, lists all the lawyers and politicians he considers corrupt. Many foreign investors feel it would have to be a very long list.

German campaigner Harald Fuhrmann says he has spent four months producing the new site, which depicts his targets in ghostly form rising from the ground.

“It is by far the biggest website I have produced so far,” Mr. Fuhrmann told the Tribune newspaper yesterday as he began preparations for a “battle bus” campaign across the united States, where he will spread his message of corruption in the Bahamas legal/political systems.

The website, he says, will name the politicians and their cronies who he considers “gangsters” mixed up in lying and corruption.

“It is a very beautiful website and will attract a lot of attention,” said Fuhrmann who wants to present Mr. Christie with a copy as soon as possible.

In his last attempt to talk with Mr. Christie, at the British Colonial Hotel in Nassau, Mr. Fuhrmann was assaulted and threatened with arrest by one of Mr. Christie’s bodyguards.

“I consider this (website) to be a compulsory guide for serious investors,” said Mr. Fuhrmann whose campaign has spread to European travel fairs, where he joins a growing crowd of people urging others to stay away from the Bahamas due to the widespread (some say Government approved) corruption and financial crime.

The website is not yet available for viewing, but will eventually join 80 other sites that Mr. Fuhrmann has created to support his international expose of corruption in the Bahamas.

The former journalist, who now devotes his life to anti-Bahamas activities, was denied justice in a property matter ten years ago and has been fighting the country’s legal profession ever since.

Leading Bahamian politicians have failed to meet with him and he has been repeatedly “dissed” by members of the legal profession who he regards as “gangsters”.

“It describes the mentality of the country”, said Fuhrmann.

Mr. Fuhrmann used to post appeals for assistance on various Bahamas websites but most have blacklisted him from their sites in an attempt to hide the glaring criminality that occurs in the Bahamas legal profession.

Help may be on the way, now that the Bozine town land scandal has brought additional international exposure to the corruption in the Bahamas legal/judicial system. In Bozine Town, numerous people are surfacing, all claiming to have legal titles for the same plots of land, highlighting the nefarious activities of several high profile Bahamian attorneys and exposing the dangers of buying real estate in the island nation.

Mr. Fuhrmann has also approached US Ambassador John Rood, claiming Washington should issue an investment warning about the Bahamas in the same way it issues travel advisories.

“It is crazy that American public relation firms should be producing stuff about the Bahamas that leads their own people into trouble,” he said.

“There are people here (in the Bahamas) who are looking for an opportunity to treat foreigners badly,” he added.
