Lack of Water in Nassau A Threat To Public Health

Dr Baldwin Carey, Director of Public Health, told The Tribune that hand washing is vital to disease prevention and a shortage of water puts public facilities such as schools and clinics at risk for a rapid spread of infectious diseases.

The Water and Sewerage Corporation has cut down on water supply between 10am to 3pm, the time most students are in school, and overnight from 9pm to 5am.

Concerned parents, already shaken from recent reports of a student of H O Nash junior high school contracting tuberculosis, are appealing for an investigation into illnesses that seem to be spreading in the schools of their children.
