Bomb Scare at US Embassy in Nassau

A bomb scare at the United States Embassy early yesterday morning led to the closure of Bay Street and the area near the Embassy’s Queen Street office.

Although the situation was determined to be safe by 7.15am, after a thorough inspection of the area by police, the incident has US authorities reconsidering a change of location for the Embassy.

The alarm was raised after Embassy security personnel detected traces of explosives during a routine surveillance check of a delivery vehicle, which was unloading at a neighbouring restaurant near the Embassy.
