Francis Appointed Co-chairman, CEO of Grand Bahama Port Authority

Former Central Bank governor Julian Francis has been appointed to co-chairman and CEO of the Grand Bahama Port Authority, it was announced Thursday.

Mr Francis resigned from his position at the Central Bank on Thursday. His new position at the Port Authority will be effective from June 1, 2005.

According to a statement released by the Port Authority principals:

“Mr Francis brings a wealth of international managerial skills and administrative expertise to the Port Authority. He will play a leading role in the formulation of the strategic direction of the city of Freeport.”

Sir Albert Miller will continue to serve as co-chairman “until the successful completion of the hand over of the co-chairman’s responsibilities to Mr Francis,” the release said.

Mr. Edward St. George, 76, former chairman of the Grand Bahama Port Authority, died in Houston last December.
