Dr. Robert Sheets will lead a panel of experts including Max Mayfield, director of the US National Hurricane Centre and Dr William Gray of Colorado State University in examining varied aspects of hurricanes at the ninth annual Bahamas Weather Conference.
The yearly gathering of research and broadcast meteorologists, created by the Ministry of Tourism, will be held April 13 to 17, 2005 at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort.
Each year, the conference agenda explores the nature and tracking of tropical storms, island safety procedures, hurricane climatology, evacuation logistics for the Bahamas and US coastal areas, regional geography and the role of the media.
