American Express Tries To Deal With Commitment-Phobia

Dealing with consumersᄡ commitment-phobia related to booking travel online, American Express’ Consumer Travel Network is to introduce new set of features on its Web site offering special rewards for booking on the site through usage of the American Express Card.

The site has been redesigned for easier navigation, and offers a private label version of the easy-to-use booking tool developed by Travelocity, along with its low fares and rates. It also offers customised booking tools for cruises and American Express Vacations packages, last minute bargains and special promotional offers. The company claims its web site – www.americanexpress.com/travel – will offer consumers benefits that go beyond the convenience and low fares they expect from online travel sites. And the site is also assuring consumers of security of American Expressᄡ 24-hour service, which is available before, during and after a trip.

On objective behind the new initiative, American Express acknowledges the fact consumers check various sites to find the best deal. モUntil now, travel web sites have fallen short of giving consumers a good reason to stop playing the field and go steady. American Express intends to change that,メ says the company.

モIndeed, loyalty is its own reward at www.americanexpress.com/travel, an attractive alternative in the confusing array of travel Web sites. American Express Travel is implementing a series of enhancements to www.americanexpress.com/travel that will make the online experience as trustworthy and reliable as its offline service — and give consumers good reason to come back again and again,メ says an official statement from American Express.

As part of the new initiative, American Express card members who avail the site for their travel plans are entitled to get double points in Membership Rewards loyalty programme. モEven better, Membership Rewards points can be redeemed to purchase part or all of a cruise vacation on the site,メ says the company.

モAmerican Express Travel is evolving with our customers, and the new site will offer them the convenience of 24-hour online access for their travel needs, backed by the reputation of one of the worldᄡs largest and best known travel companies,メ said Lynne Biggar, senior vice president and general manager, American Express Consumer Travel Network USA.
