Throw The Bums Out!

Montagu MP Brent Symonette is the latest to call for the ousting of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP). Mr Symonette lambasted the performance of Prime Minister Perry Christie, outlined several serious scandals surrounding the current administration and called on all Bahamians to vote the PLP out of office ASAP!

The “mess, predicament and terrible state of affairs” that the Bahamas is in today can be described in one word, and that is Christie,” Mr. Symonette told a crowd at the FNM Report Card Rally.

Mr. Symonette also took aim at the cronyism that has spread like a disease through the entire spectrum of government. He announced that it is soon time to deliver the annual budget, and the FNM will then be able to find out how many crony consultants, advisors and new posts have been filled by Mr. Christie’s cronies.

Recalling that the Christie administration rode to power on a promise to provide “help and hope” and that a “fresh wind” was blowing, Mr. Symonette said that after three years, it is the government that needs help and hope and that the Bahamian people were suffocating from the stink of the PLP’s fresh wind.

According to Mr. Symonette, the last three years of the “rudderless” Christie government has been plagued by indecision on every front. Whether or not to approve LNG, finding a replacement for Senator Edison Key and whether or not to shuffle the Cabinet are a few of the examples the FNM MP pointed to as examples of Mr. Christie’s indecisiveness. It is clear for all to see that Christie and his cronies are not “cutting it”, he added.

The Opposition Whip in the House of Assembly said Bahamians have suffered three long years and are now at the darkest part of the night. But the dawn of a new day is within the grasp of the FNM, Mr. Symonette told supporters, as he urged FNMs to stay focused on the goal which was to become the next Government of The Bahamas.

Rigby’s Ridiculous Exaggerations

Meanwhile, PLP Chairman Raynard Rigby tried to take what Mr. Symonette said and twist it into something that was not said. Rigby said he was “shocked and offended” by the remarks, calling them “ungracious and heinous” and demanding an apology.

This is sharp contrast to the opinions of most Bahamians who feel the entire PLP government is ungracious and heinous and that the Bahamian public should demand an apology from them.
