Another Tourist Robbery, This Time In Grand Bahama

Two male juveniles, 16 and 17, are presently in police custody assisting Central Detective Unit officers on Grand Bahama with their investigation into an incident Friday afternoon where two American visitors were robbed.

Cathy Philips, 48, of Sarasota Florida, reported to Port Lucaya Police that at 5 o’clock Friday afternoon, she and her teenage daughter, Alyse Phillips, were walking along a dirt road that leads from Kings Road to Seahorse Road, when they were approached by three young males dressed in white t- shirts and black jeans.

According to reports, one of the boys asked Ms. Phillips and her daughter if they wanted something to smoke.

The ladies answered no and continued walking, when two of the men reportedly walked up behind them, one grabbing her purse off her shoulder while the other held up a knife to keep them at bay. Ms. Phillip’s purse contained cash and other personal items.

The three men reportedly then fled on foot, heading east in the Bell Channel area.

Police arrived in the area shortly after, and the two juvenile suspects were taken into custody an hour later.
