Eleuthera First To Get Digital Cable TV

The company stated that it would begin the sale and distribution of digital programming and their new all digital set-top boxes starting August 22 on the island of Eleuthera.

Cable Bahamas will launch digital cable TV for the first time ever in The Bahamas and now Eleutherans will experience it first hand.

“Digital cable TV will bring many new channels and options to Eleuthera that people have been wanting,” said Director of Customer Care Carrie Collins. “Our customer care staff will help our subscribers sign-up and get what they want quickly and easily.”

Director of Marketing and Pay-Per-View for Cable Bahamas David Burrows said that the channel choices will be tremendous with the new service.

“There will be a more than 400 percent increase in total channels for this initial digital rollout in Eleuthera with dozens of channels never before available, and nearly 300 channels with the full launch in October,” Mr. Burrows said. “Not only will basic cable TV be expanded by over 20 channels, but for the first time we will also have optional premium channel packages, pay-per-view movies and events, and NFL Sunday Ticket. None of this was previously available or even possible in Eleuthera before digital cable.”

NFL Sunday Ticket is Cable Bahamas’ exclusive football package that includes every professional football game on Sunday afternoons throughout the entire NFL regular season. The package includes more than 200 football games with no blackouts.

Mr. Burrows stated that it “is the ultimate football experience for the serious football fan.”

Mrs. Collins said the temporary distribution centres will be the ideal place for interested persons to experience digital cable TV.

“We will have our new digital cable set-top boxes on display so people can see all the new channels and see just how great the digital cable TV experience really is,” Collins said.

Cable Bahamas’ customer care representatives will be on hand for demonstrations and to help customers sign up for the new services.

The main distribution centre for Eleuthera will be located in the Destinations Travel office in Bayfront Plaza in Governor’s Harbour. This will be open for business starting August 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

The company will also operate distribution centres on select days in Rock Sound (dates and location to be announced), Harbour Island (Arthur’s Bakery, August 24-25) and Spanish Wells (Computer Concepts, August 23-24 and Higgs Insurance, August 30-31).

Interested customers and the general public will soon be able to review the new digital channel selection and launch updates on the company’s web site, www.cablebahamas.com.
