The mother of a boy who had been in police custody since Monday finally came forward Wednesday night, police reported yesterday, after the toddler’s photograph was circulated in the media.
Authorities would only say that the woman was being processed. The little boy, who was believed to be around two years old was discovered wandering the Fox Hill community during the Emancipation Day festivities early this week.
He was being held in protective custody at an undisclosed location.
Police believe continuous media reports prompted the mother to come forward.
In this kind of situation, all of the circumstances would be examined before a determination is made about whether formal charges are brought against the parent for not reporting the toddler missing.
