Now let me commence today’s article by asking you my valued readers a simple question. Do you have any acquaintances, friends, family members, or business associates, who are forever complaining about what is going on in their life, whilst at the same time blaming others and circumstances for whatever negative events are manifesting in their lives? Now I’m quite sure, that the answer to that question is in the affirmative, as alas we all know too many people who fall into this category of individuals, who want to blame others for their problems, who simply will not accept responsibility for their present plight, whatever it may be.
Are you perhaps one of those kinds of people yourself? Now please, I implore you to answer that leading question with complete candor, don’t try to side step the issue. If the answer to that loaded question is in fact in the affirmative for you My Friend, today needs to be a day of drastic change in your life; that is of course if you wish to take control of your life and affairs, thus turning it into a worthwhile pursuit resulting in success, across the board.
When something is wrong in my life, I know that what I need to do is ‘Look in the mirror’. Until I totally accept responsibility for my actions, and therefore fully own up to the fact, that whatever is happening in my life right now, good or bad, I have CAUSED to happen; until I own up to the fact that I’m responsible for my situation, whatever it may be, I simply cannot progress any further along the road to success.
Albert Schweitzer really summed up my thoughts on this matter when he so wisely said “Man must cease attributing his problems to his environment, and learn again to exercise his will—his personal responsibility in the realm of faith and morals”.
Yes My Friend, if you wish to move ahead in all areas of your life right now, the very first thing that you simply MUST do, is to accept responsibility for where you are at this precise moment in time. You are right now at a place in your life, that you and you alone, by your habitual thoughts and subsequent actions have ultimately lead you. So then, if you’re not happy with anything in your life right now, I ask you to stop a while and take a long hard look in the mirror at you.
Examine ‘in-depth’ your mode of thought and behaviour over the preceding months and years, and believe you me, therein will lie the CAUSE of all of your problems. Now, once you have fully accepted responsibility for exactly where you are in life, and thus cut out all the blaming; then and only then can you move on to greener pastures.
Roy L. Smith put it pretty bluntly when he said “The ability to accept responsibility is the measure of a person”, and Winston Churchill reiterated when he said “The price of greatness is responsibility”. So My Friend, please do as the title of this article suggests and ‘Look in the mirror’.
THINK ABOUT IT!
