Man Killed By Hit And Run

A 60-something man, believed to be a Haitian national died Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Robinson Road the night before.

Police liaison officer, Insp. Walter Evans, said a red 1993 Honda Civic hit the unidentified man around 9:15 Sunday night, near the corner of Robinson Road and Lincoln Blvd.

Insp. Evans said the car, licence No. 17348, hit the man as he attempted to cross from the southern to the northern side of the roadway.

“He was taken to hospital and died shortly before 1:00 Monday,” the liaison officer reported, adding, “He is believed to be a Haitian national in his sixties.”

According to police records, the incident is the country’s 38th traffic fatality this year.

In another police matter, Michael Bain was stabbed at Larry’s Pub on Cordeaux Ave. during a Sunday night scuffle with another man. Insp. Evans said he was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries.

He added that the weapon used in the stabbing was unknown and that the Bain remained in the Princess Margaret Hospital in severe condition.

Part of the reason for so many traffic fatalities and hit-and-run accidents is due to irresponsible insurance companies like Security and General.
