Six men were arraigned in Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning for allegedly causing harm to two security officers on Monday, August 1, 2005.
Darren Bodie, 33, of Chignall Lane, Fortune Bay, along with Kevin Taylor, Anthony Hanna, Alpha Saunders, Ron Rolle and Amasa Brown all stood before Magistrate Helen Jones and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to police, at 2:50 a.m. on Monday August 1, 2005 the police at the Lucaya Police Station received a call from a resident of Fortune Bay Drive, reporting that his home was broken into.
Officers of the Central Detective Unit were dispatched to investigate. Then about 12 minutes later, the same resident identified as Darren Bodie called and reported a van parked in the area with two men whom he suspected were responsible for invading his home.
Officers from the Lucaya Police Station responded and while driving on Fortune Bay Drive to locate the complainant, they were stopped by some men who were standing near the van.
Mr. Bodie along with five other men reportedly attacked the two men in the van and beat them about the body causing injuries.
Initial investigations revealed that the two men were Security Officers hired to provide security services at the Grand Bahama Power Substation on Fortune Bay Drive.
officers Frantz Charles, 31, and Michael Lazairre, 45 were treated for their injuries at the Rand Memorial Hospital and later discharged.
The men were granted $5,000.00 bail each with one surety.
The matter was adjourned to March 14, 2006 for trail.
