Even for companies that dominate their markets as does Burns House Limited (BHL), the customer is still king. And after many years of serving their customers from their John F. Kennedy Drive and Bethel Avenue warehouse, the wine and spirits giant has bowed to customer concerns and relocated their warehousing operations to a 50,000 square foot facility at the Butler and Sands location opposite the Ministry of Works administration building.
The event was marked by an opening ceremony at what a release described as “new and modernised warehouse facilities and operations designed to improve overall customer service.”
The facility will certainly provide improved service to their clients. Group warehouse manager Dennis Hanna said that the previous layout was inconvenient for all concerned.
A major customer concern was the fact that orders were processed on the second floor in the customer service department while pick-up was around the side from the warehouse in the back.
And if that weren’t aggravation enough, BHL as well as its customers and the motoring public had to contend with the “constant traffic congestion” caused by the steady flow of trucks entering and leaving the warehouse.
“A huge problem existed because the customer service area was located in the main BHL building on the second floor, separated from the warehouse, and as a result we received constant complaints from our pick-up customers if they had to make adjustments to their orders,” Mr. Hanna stated.
The new facility at the Butler and Sands complex addresses these problems. Customers can drive into spacious parking areas, while trucks can load and unload without affecting the flow of traffic. Most importantly, customers’ orders and pick-ups are processed in the same convenient area.
