Import Express From DHL

This new DHL innovation is touted as a convenient all-inclusive tool which allows Bahamians to import any product of any weight, size or value into The Bahamas from anywhere in the world, basically cutting out the middle man.

“The sheer simplicity of ease of use is one critical aspect of this new product,” said Reg Echeumuna, Sales and Marketing Director for the Caribbean Area. “With DHL there is only one invoice in your local currency,” he added.

Because DHL has a presence in over 220 countries, they are able to offer this one-stop-shop, one currency payment, hassle-free exchange rate advantage to its customers.

Other international shipping companies like UPS and Federal Express, which are DHL’s main local competitors, might have to step up their game to maintain their piece of the market pie. Between Nassau and Freeport, Mr Echeumuna believes DHL has a hold on 35 per cent of the total market, which is considered a large number in the courier industry.

“We have a great product that will help the local economy, that will help trade in this country, and that will particularly help smaller business that are daunted by transportation and customs laws,” Said Mr Echeumuna.

The $45 billion-dollar company has its sights set on rocketing its net worth by $10 billion in the near future based on some acquisitions it announced were in the pipeline.
