Nixon Zephir, 28, of Mayfield Park, was charged with murdering Anne Thompson of Hanna Hill, Eight Mile Rock, who was discovered hanging from the rafters in the bathroom inside her house with a yellow nylon rope around her neck.
Her 12-year-old daughter made the discovery, according to authorities.
Police said over the weekend that a pathologist from the Princess Margaret Hospital in New Providence arrived on Grand Bahama on Saturday and was able to complete the post mortem on the remains of Ms. Thompson.
Upon receipt of the autopsy report, officers from the Central Detective Unit arrested Zephir.
Thompson’s murder was classified as the 11th murder on Grand Bahama for 2005.
Zephir, a steel worker for a subcontractor at BORCO, appeared before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson, and was represented by attorney, Carlson Shurland.
He was not required to enter a plea and the magistrate remanded him into custody until a preliminary inquiry on February 2, 2006.
Meanwhile, police said an autopsy was also being performed on the remains of 22-year-old Perez Delano Clarke, AKA “Heads of Power” who was found lying face down on the kitchen floor at his residence on Egret Circle, Fiddlers Green in Yeoman Woods around11:44 pm on Friday, September 30.
He had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and a revolver containing one spent round was on the floor near his right hand, according to police.
Police said on Sunday an official classification of his death will be made once the post mortem report is received.
Detectives were also investigating a brawl that occurred around 12:15 Sunday morning on Britannia Boulevard involving a group of young men that left one of them, Dennis Louis, 16, of Tasman Circle, hospitalised in stable condition.
A break-in and theft of a safe containing an undetermined amount of cash, early Saturday morning from Tranquility Shores on Taino Beach, was also being investigated.
No arrests had been made in those matters.
