Some may argue that the enormous pressure presently being applied to the Rt Hon. Perry Christie is not warranted. Others may try to twist the facts and say the PLP have made some strides as a government so far. But the stark reality is The Bahamas under the leadership of the Rt Hon. Perry Gladstone Christie has made several strides backwards in most categories. Slackness seems to be the order of the day.
The level of political patronage has risen to an all time high and the blatant wanton disregard for everyone’s complaint is proof that the PLP, regardless if they win or not next time, is positioning themselves financially this time and in some cases in a big way.
This writer has been monitoring several ministries and can say unequivocally that the level of slackness is unprecedented in The Bahamas, even under the late Sir Lynden Pindling, there seem to have been some level of control. Honest PLP has expressed this to me almost daily.
The Minister of Education Alfred Sears showed that he is simply not willing, interested or able to run any ministry let alone the Ministry of Education. The nonchalant attitude displayed by the minister during this “ongoing catastrophe” is proof that the children of the nation have been shortchanged with Alfred Sears at the helm.
Our judicial system has been found wanting. Cases are never brought forward, thus keeping presumably innocent young men in prison long enough for them to become accustomed to prison life, thus being initiated to become harden criminals. Weak cases are presented by the prosecution that enables criminals to walk free. Our system needs an Attorney General who is “strong”. Any signs of weakness encourage the criminal, because they can count on the Attorney General office to “mess up’.
Immigration has never been so weak in its approach to keep some semblance of control on an already out of hand situation. Minister Vincent Peet has not shown that he has the will to become strong enough to frighten the potential illegal immigrant from coming. Remember Loftus Roker put the “fear of God” in the mind of anyone who was thinking of coming here illegally.
The slackest of them all is the Ministry of Foreign affairs, and the issuing of visa to
thousands of immigrants, without the proper policy being followed. The most asinine reasons are being used to get these visas.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an attempt to ignore the naked truth, responded to the fact that illegal immigrants are coming to the Bahamas through “the front door’. Plane loads of immigrants are landing everyday, some come without proper documents. Frustrated immigration officers are complaining every day that their authority is being usurped by men, closely related to, and in some cases even working for ministers. It is alleged that visas are being issued in droves to Haitians without a sponsor’s photo attached, no sponsors address and no signature. This is nothing short of TREASON.
A well organised group is “in full operation” soliciting the potentials in Haiti and then filtering them through this well organized group. Even recent recipients of visas are now becoming sponsors; giving their address as Arawak Cay. This is dangerous for our national security. Some even gave their sponsors address as MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Is this a co-incidence?
This slackness is happening right under the nose of the “smartest” human being alive, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fred Mitchell. There is a high powered PR team working around the clock for this minister. I was astounded when the lame explanation tried to spin the truth, ignoring that Haitians are being allowed to enter The Bahamas, with no proof of them leaving. Is someone being paid? Better still, who all are being paid? Does the Prime Minister know about this? Is there anyone in the Prime Minister’s administration helping to facilitate this? Has there been any correspondence between the Prime Minister or his representative with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Enquiry minds want to know if the CABINET knows and what is their opinion of this alleged conspiracy. Look around, did anyone notice how many young boys hired by government with no significant position, driving “new cars” all over Nassau and on weekends. I wonder who is buying the gas, especially seeing that gas as ballooned to an all time high.
This is slackness magnified. The father of all slackness is the Prime Minister himself, who presided over all above mention without the slightest respect for the Bahamian people to even, just one time, explain some of the gross miscalculations. The serious part of all this is Perry Gladstone Christie is dancing while all this is happening, to prove that he don’t give a hoot what anyone thinks. The Bahamas is being operated on “AUTOPILOT”.
There is no order; Ministers can do as they wish.
Loftus A said not to long ago, that corruption was rocking the PLP to its very foundation. From the looks of the things, that infamous statement does apply, even today. Bahamians would be fools to return the PLP to power. I thank God for the privilege of speaking openly and honestly, in an effort to assist my fellowmen. My fear for God is what drives me.
