Two armed bandits robbed a top tourist restaurant of an undisclosed amount of cash early Sunday morning. The gunmen, who were wearing army-style camouflage outfits, hit Indigo Cafe on West Bay Street at l:00 AM. One of the gunmen stood guard at the door, while the other bandit led an employee to the restaurant’s safe. The bandit cleaned out the safe. Then both bandits robbed nine customers in the eatery of their cash and jewelry before fleeing.
Earlier in the week, on Thursday, Capriccio’s Restaurant, also located on Bay Street in the heart of the Cable Beach tourist area, was robbed. Around 8:15 PM Thursday night, armed gunman stormed into the restaurant, taking an undetermined amount of cash and robbing several patrons of their cash, credit cards and jewelery.
A culture of crime, which accompanies the corrupt Bahamian government is believed to be destroying the moral fabric of the Bahamas and is set to destroy the tourism industry as well.
The Bahamas is quickly earning an international reputation as a lawless jungle and a haven for international crooks. Despite plummeting tourism statistics the government continues to ignore the increase in violent criminal activity, alters crime statistics to mask the true levels of crime and protects corrupt attorneys and local criminals because they are loyal to the ruling government party.
