Bahamas Consult manager Harald Fuhrmann is bringing his war against the corrupt legal profession and the corrupt Bahamas government to the United States. He is already in his 4th week of driving an attractively designed anti-Bahamas truck throughout the eastern part of the US.
According to a press release, the truck, designed with anti-Bahamas slogans and anti-Bahamas pictures, is a very attention-getting display to the American public. One American said: “This truck caught my eyes immediately and I agree with your slogans”. Another one confirmed: “I like your logos and that you spread the truth about The Bahamas in the US”. One New York businessman was very overwhelmed and said: “We need more people like you in this country. Here, you have my card and if you need help contact me immediately”. Finally, he handed over a very expensive Dominican cigar. Another American also confirmed she had several bad experiences (in The Bahamas) and wanted to sponsor the mission by paying for gas at a nearby gas station. An American lady involved in a conversation with Mr. Fuhrmann said: “You are the most wonderful person I have met during the last ten years”.
The likeable German, Harald Fuhrmann, has shifted his strategy from The Bahamas, where criminally-minded Bahamians ignore him, to the United States, where many people are getting fed up with the corruption and lawlessness of the island nation just 90 miles offshore from Miami.
“My cries for justice fell on deaf ears in The Bahamas but so many Americans are wishing me luck on this crusade, I know I have made the right decision,” says Fuhrmann. “Even New York police officers stated that the Anti-Bahamas slogans are true and should be spread nationwide,” he added.
Mr. Fuhrmann has been waging a 10 year fight against corruption in the Bahamas legal system after he received shoddy treatment from an unethical Bahamian lawyer. After he filed a complaint to the Bahamas Bar Association the entire Bahamian legal community banded together to ensure that Mr. Fuhrmann would never receive justice in The Bahamas, a plight that many foreigners have experienced.
The colorful bus is also equipped with a siren and a loudspeaker to get the right attention at high-traffic locations like parking lots, football stadiums or town center malls.
“Americans put their thumbs up while they overtake me on the highway. In parking lots they drive forward and backward to read the anti-Bahamas slogans, they wait in front of restaurants in order to engage in conversations. One person said that the truck is the talk of the town, another one even took pictures from all angles,” Fuhrmann says excitedly.
The truck is emblazoned with slogans like “Bahamas: Dirt, Drugs and Dishonesty” and “Crime, Corruption and Killing”.
“To underline the truth we also transfered some pictures onto the vehicle,” Fuhrmann said.
“I am no longer wondering whether many American travellers are disappointed with their holidays in the Bahamas. I have discovered that every second person has negative comments regarding The Bahamas. And many are interested in knowing what crime and corruption is going on in this little island country. I met a Bostonian and he saw an advertisement from Atlantis last week in the local newspaper and was going to book a flight but changed his mind after we talked.”
