Several of Bahamasair’s planes were impounded in Miami, a source informed this journal late Wednesday evening.
The Guardian contacted the airline’s General Manager, Paul Major, who stressed that the planes were not impounded due to taxes owed, but rather due to the lateness of a Bond payment to US Customs.
“The Bond has been paid. Our insurance broker has couriered everything to US Customs and all we need is a number assigned to us and we will be alright,” Mr Major said. “I am waiting by the phone now for some word and I cannot comment on this any further.”
Last night Mr Major said he could not say whether or not the planes would be released.
