Scottish star Sir Sean Connery was thrilled to be honoured with The American Film Institute’s lifetime achievement award last night (08-JUN-06), especially when comedian Mike Myers appeared sporting a kilt as a tribute.
The legendary James Bond actor arrived at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre to collect the gong as a galaxy of stars, including George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford cheered him on.
Connery told the crowd, “I got my big break when I was five years old, and it’s taken more than 70 years to realise it.
“At five I learned to read, and I would not be standing here without the books, plays and scripts.” Myers quipped, “Men want to be him, women want him, and in my case I both want to be him and want him.”
