Dunkin Doughnuts Building Goes Up In Flames

Scores of onlookers gathered downtown yesterday afternoon as Dunkin Donuts, on the corner of Bay Street and Blue Hill Road, went up in flames The Royal Bahamas Police Force Fire Division and other police – law enforcement personnel arrived to tackle the growing blaze.

Members of the Police Force Fire Division came inches away from the inferno trying to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring buildings.

Two officers battling the blaze from the roof top of the fire-engulfed building, barely escaped tragedy as the ceiling started lo cave in.

More fire trucks arrived at the site shortly afterwards to replenish the main truck with a supply of water.

The efforts of The Royal Bahamas POlice Force Fire Division was described as “commendable” by bystanders. Some said “the response time and reaction period, proved that events which transpired during the Straw Market fire in 2001, were lessons well learned.”
