The custom-made Miss Bahamas Diamonds International Crown, a “spectacular work of art” crafted by Venezuelan jeweller George Wittels, will be on display at Diamonds International starting this month.
Diamonds International (DI) is now the pageant’s “platinum partner” and the official jeweller of the 2006 Miss Bahamas World Pageant, which will take place on July 8 at the Rainforest Theatre.
The beauty of the “Elite Eleven” who will be competing for the title of Miss, Bahamas World as well as two other titles, will be complemented during the pageant by fine jewellery courtesy of DI.
The woman who is crowned Miss Bahamas World 2006 will receive as one of her prizes $15,000 worth jewellry from the company.
Toni Gad, island manager for DI, said this partnership illustrates the confidence that the company has in the Miss Bahamas Organisation.
“This partnership exemplifies Diamonds International’s commitment and support of yet another prestigious social event and provides our local market with information on the products, services and opportunities offered to the Bahamian people,” she said.
One of the Miss Bahamas Organisation’s adopted charities, the Cancer Society of the Bahamas, is also supported by DI.
Anthony Smith, senior markering representative for DI, announced that galleries will be created in the downtown Nassau branches of the company, as well as DI Watch and Design and Tanzanite International, featuring glamour shots of all the contestants.
The winner will be the local spokesmodel for DI Bahamas and will have the opportunity to appear in future print and media campaigns.
Michelle Malcolm, head of the Miss Bahamas Organisation, said that with the support of DI, “we are anticipating putting on a spectacular event that will restore pageantry in the Bahamas to its rightful place and give the Bahamian audience a night to remember”.
The total commitment of DI to the Miss Bahamas Organisation is $25;000.
