Corrupt officers will be expelled from the Royal Bahamas Police Force Chief Superintendent Hulan Hanna reiterated yesterday.
Supt Hanna said in a radio interview that the police force would not allow its image to be tarnished by officers who take advantage of their authority.
"I want to say to the public at large that we are extremely concerned. This Police Force has placed any number of persons before the criminal courts and we have released any number of persons from active duty," he said on More 94's "Real Talk".
"We have had instances where we have had officers of virtually every stripe that have been accused of matters. Some of these allegations have been proven to have merit and where it was warranted officers were placed before the court."
Moroever, the Chief Superintendent said the public is "duty bound" to report every police officer who is seen "walking out of the line of duty," regardless of their rank.
"When you talk about allegations of corruption in the premier law enforcement agency in your country, such as the Royal Bahamas Police Force, you have to take, and we have to take these things very very seriously. If not the public confidence in the Force as an organisation will be totally erroded and we will lose the moral authority to police this country," said Supt Hanna.
