The victim, who has now been identified as 14-year-old William Kay, was killed in a jet ski collision on Paradise Island just weeks after parliamentarians passed a bill to strengthen regulations governing water sports.
According to police reports William was riding a jet ski on June 30 when he lost control and collided with a boat The teen had suffered "serious injures" and was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital, police said.
Now, Chief Superintendent of the Central Detective Unit Marvin Dames has admitted that authorities are "well into" their investigation.
"We are exhausting every possible avenue in our investigations and where there are breaches persons will certainly, be brought to account," said Chief Supt Dames.
"Not only are our investigations progressing but we are also at an advanced stage in the process," he continued. "We are hoping that as far as the investigative aspect of this matter is concerned our file will hopefully be closed within another week."
