A Customs officer was among three Grand Bahama residents arrested in connection with the discovery of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and more than $1 million in cash.
The firearm and cash were reportedly seized by police at a house in Freeport some time this week.
According to Police Superintendent Basil Rahming, the three suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday by officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit.
The police have not yet released the identity of any of the men, who are expecled to face charges in New Providence.
Mr Rahming said DEU officers executed a search warrant on a house in the Freeport area, where they seized an unlicensed firearm and a significant amount of ammunition, along with more than $1 million in US currency.
The suspects were flown to New Providence aboard an Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos (OPBAT) helicopter and are presently assisting Drug Enforcement Unit and Central Detective Unit officers with their investigations into ihe matter.
