A group of men being sought for extradition to the United States to face drug-related charges could be freed once again on bail by the end of the week, according to Maurice Glinton, an attorney who represents two of those men.
The men had recently been released on bail after Supreme Court Justice Jon Isaacs ruled in June that if their extradition proceedings had not been concluded by August 31 through no fault of their own, they could be released on bail.
But Trevor Roberts, Devroy Moss, Brian and Lynden Deal and Shanto Curry were re-arrested last week after the Attorney Generalメs office objected, essentially staying the judgeメs decision to release them.
The attorney generals office is attempting to have the conditions of their bail re-assesed. The AGメs office filed an application that questions the conditions of their release.
Mr. Glinton represents Roberts and Moss, and attorney Damian Gomez represents Brian and Lynden Deal. The matter is being held in closed court.
All of the men, except Moss who was back in court last week, appeared in court on Tuesday for the reconsideration of their bail.
According to Mr. Glinton, Justice Isaacs agreed that his clients have met all of the conditions for bail and has agreed to grant the men bail for a second time.
That decision is expected to come on Friday when the hearing resumes at 10am.
Prosecutor Francis Cumberbatch told The Bahama Journal that during Tuesdayメs session constitutional issues arose. He said if the men are granted bail, the attorney general office would appeal to the Court of Appeal.
