Kozeny Extradition Case Put Off Again

The magistrate presiding over the Viktor Kozeny extradition matter is now expected to deliver a ruling on September 28, in another delay of proceedings in the high-profile matter.

The adjournment was communicated Monday morning. The Lyford Cay resident and Czech-born financier has been battling against an extradition request from U.S. authorities for almost a year.

Those authorities want him to stand trial on fraud and money laundering charges.

He was indicted in a New York court last October.

Kozeny and others stand accused of bribing senior government officials of the former Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan; in order to gain an unfair advantage during the privatization of the state-owned oil company.

Kozeny is among a list of 24 persons wanted for extradition by the United States.
