Police urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kierran Jamal Cephas to call the Central Detective Unit, Police Control Room, Crime Stoppers or the nearest police station.
Cephasメ last known address is Shrimp Road in the Carmichael area, police said.
Last month, police indicated that four jeeps had gone missing from the storage yard of Friendly Ford Motors on Thompson Boulevard.
The vehicles reportedly included three 2006 Ford Explorers and a 2007 Ford Escape.
After alerting the police on September 1 of the stolen vehicles, the company then alerted insurance companies and mail boat companies to be on the lookout for persons attempting to insure or ship the vehicles out of the country.
The company also posted a $10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the recovery of the four vehicles and also the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
On Monday, police said they had recovered three of the vehicles, and were concerned that there was a criminal operation going on involving stolen vehicles.
Sergeant Christopher Wright, officer attached to the stolen car unit, said when the vehicles were reported stolen officers made it a priority to try to recover them.
According to police, SUVs are not high on the list of commonly stolen vehicles.
Mr. Wright said that after the reward money was advertised in local newspapers, police started receiving calls from residents regarding the stolen vehicles.
Acting on those information received, police said they were able to retrieve a vista blue XLS 2007 Ford Escape which had already been sprayed black in order to disguise the vehicle.
Mr. Wright said an individual was also arrested.
Acting on further information from the public, police said they were able to find two additional vehicles. One of the Explorers was reportedly discovered in the East Street South area and the other in Yamacraw Shores. Both had apparently been abandoned.
“We have a number of persons assisting us with information at this time and we intend to bring the information to the public as soon as we receive it,” Mr. Wright said.
All of the vehicles appeared to be in excellent condition, he said.
Police were speculating that the other stolen SUV may have been destroyed by fire.
“A 2006 Explorer was burnt to the ground on Saturday and they believe that it may have been a part of the stolen car ring, but we are not sure whether this is the vehicle. After the vehicle is inspected properly we will be able to determine whether this is Friendly Fordメs stolen vehicle,” Mr. Wright said.
Police said they were also looking for another 2006 Ford Explorer, which reportedly went missing in May while being transferred from Friendly Ford to Cavalier Shipping.
Police were reportedly investigating to determine whether any employees of the company were involved in the theft.
The cost of a Ford Explorer ranges from $34,900 to $38,400 and a 2007 Ford Escape is priced at around $32,500.
Police believe that the stolen SUVs were being sold for under $10,000.
