Under the theme “A message in a Conch Shell,” this year’s bridal extravaganza will be held at the Pavilion, Abaco Beach Resort October 19 ヨ 21.
The three-day event is expected to again attract hundreds of wedding planning representatives from throughout the Family Islands, local hoteliers, caterers, florists, seamstresses and photographers.
This year the organizers have invited Doris Nixon as their guest speaker. Nixon, who is president of Weddings Beautiful Worldwide (WBW), holds an impressive rsum in her area of expertise, including director of Educational Services National Bride Services and author to 18 certified wedding specialist courses.
Nixon has also been featured in many wedding and bridal magazine articles internationally, noted Kendy Anderson, wedding and honeymoon executive for the Abaco Tourist Office.
Anderson, who has monitored the constant growth in destination weddings, introduced workshops such as the Second Annual Bridal Extravaganza to educate and certify persons who desire to professionally capitalize in this trade.
“So in addition to our guest speaker, there will be a trade show, a wedding scene fashion show, visitation to popular wedding sites and other informative presentations,” Anderson said.
Last year’s three-day event brought many destination wedding gurus from associations of Bridal Consultants International and Weddings Beautiful Bahamas and Caribbean, said Anderson.
“All made presentations to the participants who came from throughout The Bahamas,” Anderson added.
An estimated 500 couples from around the world selected Abaco as the destination of choice to exchange their wedding vows last year.
Anderson noted that this sector of the tourism industry has generated a substantial amount of revenue in the local Abaco economy, including providing business opportunities for local designers and proprietors.
Because of the workshops’ growth, Anderson encourages individuals or business owners wishing to participate to contact the Abaco Tourist office at 242-367-3067 for further information.
