Two Killed In Knife Attacks

According to police, the first incident occurred early Saturday morning when two men walking in the vicinity of a popular Freeport attraction were accosted and attacked by two other males.

“At about 2:30 am an unidentified male telephoned the police and reported that a man (was) lying on the ground in the area of the barber shop at the International Bazaar bleeding from stab wounds and that an ambulance was needed,” Chief Superintendent Basil Rahming reported.

He said officers responding to the call found a young man clad in blue jeans shorts and a white polo shirt lying motionless with multiple stab wounds about the body.

He was reportedly rushed to the Rand Memorial Hospital, however, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said upon arriving at the scene of the attack officers discovered that the other man had been stabbed in the left shoulder and upper arm.

He too was transported to hospital where he was detained in satisfactory condition, Mr. Rahming said.

Fewer than 24 hours later, yet another homicide ヨ the 40th of the year ヨ occurred when a man believed to be in his early 40s was attacked while in the Cowpen Road area of New Providence.

Police Inspector Walter Evans said the victim was transported to hospital in a private vehicle, however, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The names of the victims had not yet been released on Sunday.
