WSC Hookup For Golf Course

The Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the South Ocean Development Company (SODC) to provide 500,000 gallons of water per day, to the newly designed Greg Norman Championship Golf Course, at South Ocean.

The WSC's negotiation team, led by Chairman Donald Demeritte, sees the signing after eight months of negotiations as a positive step by the Corporation to secure further funding for its new national water and wastewater programme.

The project's strategy depends on revenues from large institutions, which will contribute to the expansion and maintenance of the Corporation.

The ultimate objective of WSC's national water and wastewater strategy, as directed by Prime Minister Perry Christie, is to ensure every citizen of The Bahamas has access to high quality, reliable potable water in the shortest possible time-frame.

WSC views this signing as a very important milestone, as it is also a precursor to the Corporation's provision of water and wastewater services to the South Ocean Hotel property, negotiations for which, to expand and re-open, are currently underway.

With the recent addition of the Blue Hills Reverse Osmosis (BHRO) Plant to its portfolio, WSC has an in-creased capacity of five million gallons of water per day. The government and WSC are also currently finalising negotiations for another plant for northern New Providence and are seeking to install a plant in the Winton area.
