Another Officer Is Charged

A police officer was charged in magistrate’s court yesterday with assault, trespassing and causing harm.

It is alleged that Trevino Alfonso Stubbs, 27, entered the premises of Eunice Stubbs at Harbour Island without her permission on Saturday, October 14, and assaulted her.

Stubbs, a resident of New Providence, also allegedly intentionally caused harm to Kurt Thompson on the same day.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez on Tuesday.

His bail was set at $2,000 with one surety, and his case was adjourned to October 31, when the matter will be taken up in Court 9 on Nassau Street.

In other court news:

* Gregory Jarett, 39, appeared in magistrate’s court 11 on Nassau Street Tuesday to answer charges of shop-breaking and stealing.

It is alleged that Jarett broke into City Markets foodstore in the Harbour Bay Shopping Centre between 9.30 pm on Monday, July 17, and 10 am on Tuesday, July 18, and stole groceries, a can opener and a portable television, together valued at $6,154.94

Jarett pleaded not guilty and was granted $5,500 bail. He is due to appear in court again on February 5, 2007.

* A 33-year-old man of Bar Twenty Corner appeared in court on Monday to answer charges of indecent assault against an 11-year-old girl.

It is alleged that between August and September of this year Meleus Miguel indecently assaulted the minor.

Miguel pleaded not guilty but the prosecutor objected to bail, arguing that Miguel was without status and was considered a flight risk.

He was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison and is expected to return to court on January 26, 2007.

* Kyle Aaron Albury, 24, of Sapodilla Street, appeared in magistrate’s court 11 on Monday to answer charges of indecent assault.

It is alleged that Albury assaulted a 16-year-old female on Wednesday, October 4, while in Nassau.

Albury pleaded not guilty and his bail was set at $3,500.

The case was adjourned until January 30, 2007.

* Ryan Farrington of Cedar Crest Street appeared in Court 5 on Monday to answer three counts of forgery, uttering a forged document and fraud by false pretences.

It is alleged that on September 4, Farrington forged an insurance document belonging to Insurance Company of the West Indies – insurance policy number 05-221-94-44458 – and bearing the name Dunor Seneie.

He allegedly pretended to be Dunor Seneie and tried to obtain $200 from General Brokers and Agents Ltd.

Farrington pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of $1,000.

His case was adjourned to January 31, 2007.
