Corrupt and incompetent Immigration Minister, Shane Gibson, told the House of Assembly yesterday that officials in his ministry were investigating claims that Anna Nicole Smith does not own the home she is staying in on Eastern Road.
It is a little late to be investigating that. Instead, his officials should be launching a corruption investigation into how and why Mr. Gibson would fast-track a permit for someone who obviously does not meet the residency requirements.
This revelation comes after Prime Minister Perry Christie and Mr. Gibson both expressed outrage that the FNM would dare to question the process by which Ms. Smith was granted residency.
It turns out that the home Anna Nicole is currently living in belongs to a fellow named G. Ben Thompson from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. ﾠMr. Thompson was one of a series of playthings for the buxom celebrity last year. The former Playboy centerfold, whose IQ is said to be equal to her bust size, uses insincere charm to feign an interest in men, just long enough to get what she wants, before galloping off to her next 'mark'.
Another of her previous man-toys, a self-promoting paparazzi photographer named Larry Birkhead, claims he is the father of Ms. Smith's newborn baby girl. But Smith's husbitch/lawyer Howard Stern says the kid is his.
Meanwhile, Mr. Thompson, a South Carolina-based real estate developer, wants Smith out of the house by the end of the month, or he will begin formal eviction proceedings.
Thompson was apparently convinced to buy the house so Anna Nicole could allegedly duck her bills in the US by fleeing to the Bahamas, the bastian of criminal refuge in this hemisphere. Ms. Smith, who is rumoured to be nearly broke after falling from her low perch on the celebrity bandwagon, was supposed to take out a mortgage and pay Mr. Thompson for the house.
But Ms. Smith has reportedly refused to live up to her committment, saying that the house was a 'gift', a claim Mr. Thompson vehemently denies.
Anna Nicole Smith's short time in The Bahamas has been filled with controversy and has exposed the PLP government as a bunch of incompetent crooks.
This latest chapter in the celebrity soap opera follows the sudden death of her 20-year-old son Daniel, who died while visiting his mother and newborn half-sister Dannie Lynn Hope at Doctors Hospital on September 10.
Daniel's death touched off a controversy of its own as the Bahamas government, scrambled to cover-up what appears to be a case of negligent homicide involving Ms. Smith and her omnipresent lawyer. ﾠThe PLP government, which closely resembles a criminal organization in both structure and methods of operation, was interested in hiding the policy violations that led to Ms. Smith's residency permit and was also keen on minimizing any bad PR for the tourism industry.
But their sneaky, underhanded actions backfired into a media circus resuting in highly unfavourable international press.
The Bahamas government has failed to keep its date for an inquest into Daniel Smith's death, which the original coroner called "suspicious", because 20-year-old youths do not simply turn up dead.
Playing his part in the Smith death cover-up, allegedly corrupt Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez has said that he expected word "soon" on whether there would be any inquest at all.
