It was reported on Thursday that Ginn would be the presenting sponsor for the 47th International Boat Show which will be held from October 26 to 30.
“We are extremely pleased to have such an extraordinary resort community become the title sponsor of the 2006 show,” said Efrem Zimbalist III, president and CEO of Show Management, the company that organises the boat show.
This year’s show will feature more than $1.6 billion worth of boats, yachts, super yachts, electronics, engines and thousands of accessories from major marine manufacturers and builders around the globe.
“The stature and prestige of this world-class project mirrors the Fort Lauderdale show’s star attributes. It’s a perfect fit,” Mr Zimbalist was quoted saying in Megayacht News Online. The show is also reported to utilise over three million square miles of land and water space “at six sites, all connected by the Show Transportation Network.”
This show comes at an important time when mariners are trying to boost the image of The Bahamas as a mega yacht haven which, according to sources close to that industry, could happen soon. A Florida newspaper said recently that more Floridians are seeking dock space in The Bahamas because of a shortage of slip spaces in Florida. Further, The Bahamas was touted as an ideal spot for boaters because the cost of slip spaces is relatively cheaper than those of nearby ports.
