Durselen, who has been visiting the island for years now, has timeshare at the Discov-ery Bay apartments.
He said that for that past two weeks he has noticed an ever-increasing amount of the solid foam coming and going with the tide.
“The foam for the past 10 days has been coming back and forward on this canal here,” Durselen said. “I’ve never experienced this problem before.”
The winter resident says that beside being a clear hazard to boating activities, the foam is an ugly pollutant that is frequently clogging the waterway.
He worries that the problem may become even greater because the source of the foam is unknown.
The boater added that he and friends spent the past two mornings pulling the thick sponge like particles from the water and dumping it in the garbage.
Durselen claimed that other residents and boaters have been complaining about the unsightly froth.
