Pastor Injured In Violent Confrontation

Chief Superintendent Basil Rahming reported over the weekend that two sisters from Abaco were expected to face formal charges within the next several days following their alleged attack on a pastor and a young woman.

According to police reports, sometime around 8:45pm Tuesday an 18-year-old woman was walking with her mother along Crockett Drive on Abaco when she was confronted by the sisters, ages 17 and 20.

The older sibling reportedly struck the victim in the back with a large rock then hit her in the head with a beer bottle.

Mr. Rahming said upon seeing the altercation Rev. Stephen Knowles, 43, pastor of the Strong Tower Tabernacle in Dundas Town, Abaco, intervened and attempted to restrain the 20-year-old attacker.

Police reports indicate that she violently attacked him and struck him in the face with a large rock.

Rev. Knowles was taken to the Marsh Harbour clinic where he was treated before being airlifted to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Mr. Rahming said two responding police officers were also attacked by the two sisters, who reportedly violently resisted arrest before being subdued and taken into custody.
