Police Recruit Charged With Assault

A police recruit was charged in court on Tuesday in connection with a stabbing incident which occurred over the weekend during the Harbour Island Regatta.

Trevino Stubbs, 26, was charged before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez with assault, causing harm and trespassing.

It is alleged that on October 14 on Barracks Street, Harbour Island, Stubbs assaulted a female and caused harm to Kurt Thompson, who is still nursing wounds in hospital.

It is also alleged that Stubbs trespassed by entering the premises of the female whom he allegedly assaulted.

Stubbs pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of $2,000.

He is scheduled to return to court on October 31.

Police reported over the weekend that the near fatal attack resulted in Thompson, 24, being stabbed multiple times in the stomach and back area.

Thompson, who is believed to a resident of the eastern district of New Providence, had to be airlifted to New Providence after he was attacked by a group of men, police said.

He was listed in serious condition upon arrival at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Stubbs is the third police recruit for the year to face formal charges in a magistrateメs court.

Last week, another male recruit was charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor, and a female recruit was charged a few weeks ago on drug related charges.
