Stolen Property Linked To Hotel Robbery

Reports are that police conducting surveillance of motorists travelling the Warren J. Levarty Highway, on Thursday, October 19, pulled over a red Ford Taurus with three male occupants, who looked suspicious.

Authorities say that after informing the trio of why they were stopped, the officers conducted a search of the vehicle and retrieved one silver Kodak camera, one silver Motorola Razor cellphone with a charger and a silver hand bracelet engraved with the marking “Escort 2004,” which none of the young men could satisfactorily account for possessing.

As a result, the three Freeport residents ranging from ages 15 to 22 were arrested for unlawful possession of property suspected of being stolen.

Police say that the suspected stolen items have been linked by forensic and other evidence to a recent hotel robbery.

Authorities say that three American visitors: Sheri and Charles Marr of Gainville, Georgia along with April Smith of St. Charles, Missouri reported to Port Lucaya police that sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, that while they were out having dinner some culprit or culprits broke into their room at the Woodbourne Resort Hotel on South Mall Drive and stole a large amount of personal property whose value police say totals $24,294.

The 15 and 16-year-old male suspects are expected to face formal charges sometime today in a Freeport Magistrate Court.
