The PLP is coming apart at the seams. The big bust-up that allegedly occurred while the business of the people was supposed to be priority happened because of their personal business.
If the rumors are right, then the bust-up was a result of the private interest of lawyers and not the people’s business, on the people’s time, which is why they were there in the first place. This is unaccepted in the private sector, and it therefore should not be accepted in the public sector. They should be fired, that is if the Prime Minister can muster the guts to do it. Why is so afraid to act as leader. What do they have on him that prevents him from being assertive? This is his and the PLP Achilles’ heel.
Imagine this, an employee of the major offshore establishments or one of these world renowned hotels, is caught doing other companies business on their bossメs time, what do you think would be the result. They would be FIRED on the spot. No apology would be necessary because none would be accepted.
On most civilized jobs and in most civilized countries anyone doing another companyメs work on the bossメ time should be fired. The fact that there were disagreements at best, it was certainly not because they were acting on behalf of their constituents.
The Prime Minister thought this was humorous, but it just shows that Perry Christie is not serious about his position as Prime Minister. Most leaders with backbone and who are afraid of their integrity being called into question, would make certain that all of the information surrounding the circumstances be brought to light, so as to clear himself, not appear to be covering up anything, which would cause serious doubt to set in.
Just when some of us begin to give Perry Christie the benefit of the doubt, he does something foolish to destroy everything. The other serious thing is that people who work in and around the Churchill Building have been generous in giving their account of the bust-up. So the only person who seems not to have the details is Perry Christie.
PLPs who dislike both men were gloating that the incident did in fact happen. They could not wait to tell their FNM friends. The only consolation is that the PLP cannot blame the FNM for this disgraceful event. The sad part is that sensible PLP who are not fanatics are publicly expressing their regret of being associated with the weak-kneed prime minister. There is a saying that speaks to the web we create when we try to deceive. I know for certain that Mr. Christie knows of the danger of spinning the web of deceit.
This kind of controversy is not new to Keod Smith. He threatened to slap one of his own constituents from Millennium Gardens who was just seeking answers about his constituency. This incident happened in Rawsonメs Square in front of members of the Public Service Union and scores of high ranking police officers and other members of the public. If Perry Christie had some guts and was not afraid of these men, he would have said or done something to help the situation. But it is clear that pettiness and /or fright may have hampered a decision, as usual.
The obvious split now visible to the blind man shows that chaos and confusion is now the order of the day in the PLP administration. Their attempt to appear to be all together has been exposed for all to see. They are not together and they cannot lie anymore. There is a war going on and Bahamians will not trust them because they cover and deceive for the simplest and most obvious things that sometimes could be easily explained, if they only tell the truth. Mr. Gibson proved that the Prime minister did not paint a clear picture of the event, admitting that an altercation did in fact happen by his apology. This exposes Perry Christie of not being truthful to say the least.
Finally, on another note, no posturing by Tennyson Wells or anyone on his special team of mercenaries, speaking on behalf of and advancing PLP propaganda will help the situation. In fact every time Mr. Wells or his group opens their collective mouths, we know that their selfishness is what drives them. Mr. Wells should be given “honorary chairman” for life of the “all for me baby” club.
At a very early age my mother said, “What ever you do, be a man, regardless what the situation, be a man, never stoop, never waiver, stand up straight, walk with your head up”. She also said, “Be careful what you do or say about people, be respectful of yourself and others, and the world does not revolve around you”. “Whom the God’s destroy, he first make mad” My mother has past now, but her words ring out in my ear every day.
